Reviving an old brand
As many ideas are born, this one started with some adult beverages. Two friends and neighbors, trying to stay sane with young children at home during covid lockdown, decided during a backyard bonfire that it’s time to refill this old bottle and bring the past to life. Alas, Reboot Beverages was born, with a focus on reviving the Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey brand, celebrating its history and giving it a fresh new beginning.
Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey launched with a limited release of the 19th Street batch, paying homage to the street where the old bottle was found. Over time, additional batches will come to market, each having their own unique flavor profile. Each batch will be limited in production quantity.
What’s old is new
Reboot Beverages LLC is focused on bringing back historic liquor brands, along with the history that surrounds them. Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey is our first brand, but it will not be our last. At Reboot Beverages, we collaborate with distillers to produce unique, limited release products for our brands. Join us on this historic journey!
Every bottle has a story
At Reboot Beverages, we love DC and we care about the Mt. Pleasant community. Can we use whiskey as an agent for good? We’ll try! We pledge to give a portion of the profits of every bottle of Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey back to the community so that we have many more stories to come. For each batch, we’ll be identifying a cause to contribute to. For the 19th Street batch, we donated funds to the Mt. Pleasant Village. Click here to learn more about the Mt. Pleasant Village and the great things they’re doing!
About the Founders
John Loughner
When he's not chasing his kids, coaching soccer or eating papusas with his wife, John spends his free time reviving historic liquor brands through Reboot Beverages. He has a passion for the historic side of the business, including what is found in old archives from the pre-prohibition days of American spirits.
Troy Hughes
When not operating a taxi service for his kids, co-founder Troy Hughes finds time to support his beloved Gunners and do runs and rides in Rock Creek Park. He is also working on a book - tentatively titled, "Early Whiskey Producers of Washington, DC", which will focus on several pre-Prohibition liquor dealers, a few of which lived here in Mt. P.
